Finance Minister to be asked to consider split VAT rate for hotels & restaurants

Catherine Martin is to ask Finance Minister Michael McGrath to examine whether the VAT rate for hotels and restaurants can be split.

However, Minister Martin insisted that this is just something that may be examined and will not form part of next month’s budget. "But it's something, not in the context of budget negotiations, that I’d ask Minister McGrath to give consideration in the future to investigate the possibility of a split rate.
