Alice Springs' two-week youth curfew has “settled things down” and brought life closer to normal for the town's residents, according to local business owner and crime prevention advocate Darren Clark.

The curfew is scheduled to run for two weeks and include the Alice Springs CBD, with any resident under the age of 18 spotted outside in the hours between 6pm and 6am to be taken home or to a safe place. Speaking to Sky News Australia AM Agenda host Laura Jayes on Tuesday morning, he cut a more upbeat figure as he revealed the positive impact the curfew had had on the town.

Mr Clark said an extension appeared likely, with police auxiliary licensing inspectors in bottle shops also expected to stay “for a few more weeks, maybe longer”.
