A representative of a California-based chemical manufacturer stood before a federal judge Friday and entered a guilty plea to a criminal charge on behalf of the corporation.

The company admitted that the company sold a pesticide product in 1,080 reusable containers that were shipped back to the Axis facility from Australia in 2015.) -

AMVAC admitted that it did not notify its transporter that the containers held hazardous waste. It also failed to create a hazardous waste manifest as required by law. The company’s written plea agreement indicates that the container arrived at the Port of Savannah in Georgia in October 2015 and then got moved to a warehouse in Saraland before the Axis plant received them on Oct. 27, 2015.

The prosecutor wrote in an affidavit that the EPA had received information “documenting thousands of violations.”
