After the Harrisburg city council voted against a construction manager for the Broad Street Market's brick building earlier this month, one councilmember is changing her mind.
Mayor Wanda Williams initially recommended Alexander Building Co. for the construction manager position at the council's May 14 meeting. There, councilmembers voted 5-2 against the proposal, with some citing equity concerns.After rejecting the bid, the council faced backlash from community members, city officials and the Broad Street Market Alliance.
Without an approved construction manager, officials fear the rebuilding of the Market's brick building would be set back even further.
