Competition watchdog recommends Gumede-backed consortium’s acquisition of Tongaat

Ports and logistics group Grindrod South Africa has been appointed to develop and operate a container handling facility at the Richards Bay Port, Transnet National Ports Authority announced.

The development is set to grow capacity and efficiency of the KwaZulu-Natal port by 150 000 container units to handle 200 000 containers each year. The port's current capacity is 50 000 containers each year. In a statement, TNPA said the appointment followed calls for the development of a container terminal at the dry and liquid bulk port for a number of years and will bring a capital investment of R285 million.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
