The planned merger — reported to be worth $24.6 billion — has been previously opposed by Alaska’s delegation, with Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Rep. Mary Peltola voicing their concerns about grocery prices and store accessibility. “C&S Wholesale Grocers are untested and untried in Alaska, and have no experience working with local labor unions,” Murkowski wrote. “My efforts to protect Alaskans from the negative consequences of this merger are far from over.”
