A report to Council Executive on Tuesday 13 August explains that the previously approved sale is no longer going ahead, as it does not represent best value for the council.
An arrangement was reached where the council would carry out the demolition of the building, with associated costs recovered from WCEL on completion of the sale. This would prevent issues with vandalism on the vacant site, and minimise costs, such as security.
