Leading councillors in Trafford have hailed the renewal of its new operating agreement with a not-for-profit provider which has overseen a multi-million pound investment into the borough’s leisure centres. The council’s executive have approved the new contract with Trafford Leisure CIC, which manages the authority’s leisure centres.
This was boosted by a successful Levelling Up Fund bid for Partington and additional Sport England funding for Altrincham. In a report, the council’s deputy leader and executive member for leisure and arts Coun Catherine Hynes said the new operating agreement between the council and Trafford leisure had been developed with a ‘clear focus on health and wellbeing outcomes and addressing health inequalities’.
Coun Hynes, who is registered blind, said that she was a user of Urmston Leisure Centre. “As a disabled person I was quite nervous about doing that,” she said. “When I arrived the team were so welcoming and incredibly supportive and helpful.
