NEW: US federal prosecutors have filed charges against 2 Russian nationals who are accused of a string of attacks on computer systems in the US that netted them over $3M.

Pete Williams, Ken Dilanian and Daniel Arkin

Maksim Yakubets and Igor Turashev are accused of planting malware on victim computers, targeting a bank in Pennsylvania as well as several companies and a school district in the state. In addition to the Pennsylvania targets, the accused also struck victims in 11 other states, federal prosecutors said.

The attacks were among"the worst computer hacking and bank fraud schemes of the past decade," Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski said at a news conference.
