He said three actions have now been taken to address the supply issues. For now, some testing will be processed abroad to address the current backlog and allow labs to prioritise groups such as healthcare workers and hospital inpatients. In a short time we have scaled up on, testing centres, testing kits, contact tracers, nbr of Labs, hospital beds, ICU, ventilators, PPE, staff.

He acknowledged that at 2,600 tests a day currently, Ireland will not reach the 15,000 a day health officials had hoped for this week or even next week.
