BRITAIN'S largest dog charity has been "overwhelmed" with requests for pets to keep the nation company during lockdown.
A Dogs Trust spokesman told The Sun: “We have received an overwhelming number of enquiries from the dog-loving public offering to volunteer, rehome or foster a dog and we would like to thank them for their generosity in these challenging times.”restrictions, staff are working through its deluge of requests for a dog.BRITAIN’s four million NHS staff are on the frontline in the battle against coronavirus. The Sun has launched an appeal to raise £1MILLION for NHS workers.
“However, like many other animal welfare charities, we have now closed all of our rehoming centres. Our staff are busy looking after our dogs behind the scenes, while limiting interaction with each other, and we are finding temporary foster homes for as many dogs as we can until we can find them a forever home.
Dog Trust needs to be careful with these requests of adopting as these people might not want these pets once lockdown is open. And abandon or neglect these lovely creatures when life returns to normal pace.
