Writers, publishers and bookshops are trying to keep afloat during the extended lockdown with digital and virtual offerings

After a successful first run, Zukiswa Wanner and Maaza Mengiste have organised the second season of the virtual literary festival. that the festival had a successful run and 50 to 60 people attended each event, for each event, much like a conventional festival. Since the initial iteration, Maaza Mengiste and Wanner have decided to curate a second season of the festival.

Commenting on capitalising on the pandemic, Rogan of Love Books argues that bad news has always been good for books: “Think of the Zuma years and how much was published in South Africa on that topic,” she says.
