Catriona Melville says women in regional areas have to travel a fair distance to get to abortion clinics. But Dr Melville said the infrequency — and the prospect of short-notice cancellations if enough seats were not booked — meant it was not a tenable option for Marie Stopes."Obviously that is not a long-term option, it's very expensive and time consuming," Dr Melville said.
"But, again, some of the public transport are running on quite a restricted service anyway, and if they were cancelled last minute that would have just as great an impact on our services."
