launched his Belt and Road scheme of global development aid with Chinese characteristics, he needed a country to showcase it. Pakistan seemed the obvious choice. It was China’s only real ally, a security partner on a vulnerable flank. Meanwhile a new prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, and his business-friendly Pakistan Muslim League had just come to power pledging big infrastructure projects and an end to the country’s notorious brownouts.
Pakistan’s indebted power industry is notorious for sleaze, and the findings of the committee, which also faulted local contractors, should come as no surprise. Mr Khan himself campaigned for office by attacking corruption onprojects. After he won the election in 2018, with a little help from Pakistan’s powerful generals, he thought to berate China into renegotiating terms and offering other financial help—he had, after all, inherited a full-blown balance-of-payments crisis.
ImranKhanPTI doesn’t have the audacity to demand money. He is a puppet PM installed by the khakis. He would be trashed soon and the GHQ would select another boot licker as PM.
The non-Communist Countries are going to bankrupt Communist China and if that does not rid the World of them a Military WAR will --They are spoiling for a fight and they will have one--USA , Japan , all the Countries on the South China Sea , Britain and its allies , no contest!
The Economist has become a mouthpiece for RSS fascist tyranny...India is hoping this story, which is patently untrue, will reach China and cause disruption of trade between 2 of India's enemies...dont fall 4 this fascist division tactic!!!
Most important of all, part of Indian Kashmir still occupied by Pakistan is key lifeline of this Project. India is most likely to recapture it soon. Then what happens to this project & Chinese investment? China is very nervous at the prospects and hence current posturing.
That is what you call being smart. China is just using Pakistan against India, about time Pakistan turn it around for win,win over China and see how China responds as. China don't like. losing, but taking advantage of others.
What a stupid piece. Not only Pak, there is a list of countries asking for debt relief due to Covid. It is a win win as lenders wouldnt want to default. CPEC already has seen phase 1 completion.
