Mexican government announces the country's daily minimum wage will rise by 15% in January to the equivalent of about $7 per day.

A vendor sells nativity figurines, in a Christmas market where organizers were still deciding if they would close at 5 p.m., in accordance with a new state mandate intended to help slow the spread of COVID-19, in Ecatepec, Mexico State, on the outskirts of Mexico City, Monday, Dec. 14, 2020. Mexico has been posting record increases in coronavirus cases in December, and the capital's hospitals are nearing capacity.

Minimum wages on the northern border, which are higher due to higher costs of living, will also rise 15% to about $10.70 per day. Mexico's minimum wage is the lowest in the Americas — on par with Haiti — and the lowest in Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

SeditiousRepublicanParti:'We need to import those workers...for $7/day.'

Business will always bitch about labor costs. Other businesses can raise prices, change contract conditions, add in riders and extra costs and they take it. But give the people who actually do the work a little more and THE ECONOMY WILL FAIL!

Wow!

Mexico is willing to pay workers more than the GOPComplicitTraitors Guess RepublicansAreTheProblem are hoping to fix immigration through...emigration.

Still not enough, some people there are only making 25 cents to a dollar

So they can work? 🤔 What about Covid19?🙄

It's a start for the most mineral (government owned) rich country...

How can United States and Mexico have same minimum wage?

That’s still hella low

thanks for this news

Why don’t they just raise it to $15 per hour? Then there would be no poverty! 😏
