The report comes as a surge of renewables in the energy market prompts the early closure of coal fired power plants. Renewables are expected to increase from 37 per cent to 63 per cent by 2030, then up to 90 per cent by 2040.
In a statement, Kerry Schott – from the Energy Security Board – said “increasing penetration of variable renewable energy resources and distributed energy resources is making it more difficult to maintain security, and low wholesale prices are reducing the incentive for traditional generators to remain online”. “This will ultimately influence their decision to exit, which is likely to be earlier than the technical life,” she said.
Womp womp
It's good to see that Voters know AngusTaylorMP is responsible for this mess and Voters are not buying his 🐴💩 Auspol
WHICH WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR, FOR OVER 9 YEARS!!!!!! Still no Energy Policy! ScottyFromMarketing
This reeks of some IPA gathered bull sh * it. Update the grid, or by 2030 I’ll definitely have battery and all my energy will be free- also causing less pollution.
Why are the people being punished? We should send the bill to the Greens.
A while back wasn't everybody blaming the excessive money spent on upgrading the electrical 'poles & wires' (aka electrical grid) infrastructure for the very high prices of electricity in NSW? What went wrong or was that a political/media fabrication?
But we have state borders, why do we supply our power to SA or Vic. Just say its nsw power for nsw people
If only Sky didn't use their considerable influence on right wing politicians to stifle any attempt that's been made to reform Australia's energy system.
Fossil fuels are so good that the morrison is using $6bn of taxpayer funds to prop the gas cartels up
Well, somebody wised up to what the public already knew. Hooray and out.
so ESB say lower wholesale prices will cause power prices to be higher....mmm...I think some ppl are failing miserably
What is this - renewables not doing the job when they should be cheap? Surely we don’t need coal or nuclear to strengthen the grid. Maybe this is just the privatised power companies making a grab for more profit. Government needs to return to power generation itself
Yup , my solar was a scam.
Well Never saw that coming said no one ever ! Wait for the inevitable price rises Just watch what happened in SA
If only Sky News had some credibility.
What to share UAE49 leadership vision.. Enjoy
