The process, known as dynamic charging, involves under-road pads that wirelessly transmit electricity to receivers mounted underneath cars and, for some larger vehicles, overhead wires like those used by trams.
In France, Renault SA has teamed up with Electricite de France SA to test dynamic charging on the streets of Paris. In Sweden, trucking giant Scania AB has developed a truck with utility E.ON SE that can be charged overhead and is ready for mass production, while a startup will soon test wirelessly charged buses in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.
“Charging should not be considered a pain and should not act as a brake on electric vehicle use and deployment,” said Xavier Serrier, who is leading Renault’s charging project. “Technically speaking, it works,” he said of the technology.
davidhodari I drive cross country, my EV takes me from one charge station to the nxt. I have had few problems & the infrastructure is still growing. After toilet/water break I’m charged up. I-40 is torn up enough already. Why tear it up planting electric coils and then again to repair them?
davidhodari Everyone seems to overlook that the vast majority of driving is out&back round trips from home at less than 100 miles daily. My EV max charge is 300 miles. I keep it charged to 250 miles nightly in my garage. Rarely do I have to DC high speed charge to meet my daily driving needs
That would be so awesome

How about the long term effects of riding in a em field all day
A new generation of trolleybus?
So many other places to put this extreme amount of capital. This idea sounds great, but is completely impractical and largely unnecessary.
Electric and automated cars will never take over until the roads are retrofitted for them. People aren’t going to buy electric cars when the process of charging it outside of your home takes 30 minutes for a partial charge.
A couple of years ago, I figured out the perfect way to do EV's, and how they doing it so far is the wrong way because charging a car is a headache overall, along with, it's only one way to get a EV charged while driving. But my EV don't need to be charged. It goes by a method.
range anxiety is mostly just a media talking point, not a real issue for ev owners.
Great for rich people tho 👍
If every gas station had charging stations, that’d be a start.
One EM pulse and we are all walking. Just saying.
This is dope
