Admin error cost me my business, says hairdresser

A mobile hairdresser said it was "really distressing" having to close her business due to an "admin error". during the pandemic after accidently failing to submit her 2018-2019 tax return.HM Revenue and Customs , which runs the SEISS, said it would speak to Mrs Price "to clarify the situation".2.

"Had we not had family that stepped in and helped us I dread to think where we would be," said the 42-year-old. Mrs Price said she paid her taxes as a self-employed hairdresser "on time every year for 10 years" but because of an "admin error" she had effectively been told "sorry, tough luck". Getting an estate agency job has given her "security" again, but she said closing her business was painful.

A no news article .

I owe you an apology to ever doubt your sincerity and professionalism. It’s was just like a dream to me when I received my first payment. After my second payment it became a reality now after several payments it has become a way of life. SamuelEddy_

Never paid tax and wants free money? Definitely a Labour supporter

While its stupidity; its just sympathy; most thing are on line today; if she booked a holiday you have to confirm your booking. Not turn up at say an airport but not have a flight booking. Plus is not losing the business but losing out on free handouts; lesson learnt I guess.

If she failed to file, then it's her error. Nonetheless, they may look kindly on her.

Accidentally failed to return a tax form? HMRC put ads on tv to remind you!

Trying to cut costs😳

HER admin error not the tax office!

But she must have been sent late filing penalties, surely?

That's a big admin error obviously. Why wouldn't she check her tax return hadn't been submitted. I was in the restaurant business for twenty years and can't fathom how that would happen. It's not like she just missed an expense receipt.

How do you forget to submit a tax form? being self employed for a number of years you know exactly when that bugger is due in, I think she would be best suited on PAYE

HMRC do not accept ignorance as a valid excuse. She had until 31/1/20 to submit the return that covered 18/19. Did she not receive a single statement of account or reminder or see the reminders online and on TV? No excuse. She's clearly at fault.

Here we go again BBC jumping on a negative story, despite the improved offer in budget. What was Chancellor supposed to do, say anyone that hadn't completed their tax return just gets a free money. Self employed were either working or not, if not, they had plenty of time to do it

She failed to submit the tax form, and somehow that makes it someone else's fault?

How it's an admin error? Good with insta but not with tax form? Utter rubbish.

Shouldn't the headline be that 'HMRC turn out not to be clairvoyant' or does that go against the clickbait culture you're employing, again

You missed a word out right at the start - “My”

Yummy mummy

Admin error = not pressing submit.

Sounds like bollocks to me

Just a thought - what consequences did Boris Johnson face for the late submissions he made? Not tax return I know, but still ....

Oopsie

Couple of months ago I came across a recommendation about Michael_homas9 wealth how he helped investors to earn lots of money with their investments. and I decided to give a trial with the little I have. Now my little has turned into something great which was not my expectation
