AstraZeneca is urging Australian consumers to steer clear of third-party suppliers claiming they sell the company’s COVID-19 vaccines directly to the public amid fears counterfeit coronavirus doses are headed for local shores.
The first batch of 830,000 Australian-made COVID vaccines left the CSL factory in Parkville, Melbourne, after being approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.“There is currently no supply of our vaccine available for private sale. We would ask that details of any suppliers claiming to be able to supply our vaccine privately are reported directly to AstraZeneca,” a company spokeswoman said.
“Myself and the committee want to ensure with this enquiry that the [Australian Federal Police] and other law enforcement agencies have every resource and any additional powers that may be needed to make certain that every Australian can and will have confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine program,” he said.
“The TGA is aware of criminality occurring in relation to advertising of falsified COVID-19 vaccines on darknet and clearnet marketplaces overseas, but similar criminal activity has not been identified within Australia.”
MsEmmaK Good grief
MsEmmaK My body my choice. I'd stay away from Astra and insist on getting the Pfizer which is proven to work, and no unlikely side effects of clotting.
MsEmmaK The NT Chief Minister was one of the first to be vaccinated.......now he’s back in isolation.
MsEmmaK Its good for Astrazeneca to release its clinical trial results of its vaccine.
