Joining the veteran rep at Spotlight is her full roster of actors, including Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lizzy Caplan, Kyra Sedgwick, Thomas Sadoski, Aya Cash, Sam Jay, Ashley Zukerman, Ari Graynor, Brian Geraghty, Leslie Grossman, Amy Landecker, Tory Kittles and Scott Porter, among others.
“If the pandemic has taught me anything, it’s that life is precious so it felt like the right time to take the knowledge and experience I’ve acquired from my wonderful mentors over the years and go out on my own," the well-respected Gray said in a statement about the decision to launch The Spotlight Company.
The move comes after Gray spent more nearly nine years at Viewpoint, joining the firm founded and led by Jennifer Allen and Melissa Kates in June 2012. Prior to that, Gray worked for Slate PR, helping open that company's New York office in 2010. She started her career at Huvane Baum Halls in 2001 and moved with Stephen Huvane, Robin Baum and Simon Halls over to what became PMK/HBH.
The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the representation ranks in Hollywood including the publicity business. Some firms laid-off staffers, let go of permanent office space or saw veteran reps break off to venture out on their own, like Gray. One major move from last year saw long-standing firm BWR Public Relations shutter permanently and a group of publicists then teamed up to launch their own firm, The Initiative Group.
