Sixty-one-year-old Zondo was born in the impoverished community of Ixopo in KwaZulu-Natal on May 4, 1960. Zondo has a lengthy legal career. He has served in various courts including the Labour and Supreme Court of Appeal. Zondo was also part of a task team that developed the draft legislation on labour relations for post-apartheid South Africa in 1994.Zondo became a Constitutional Court Justice in August 2012 and was later appointed Deputy Chief Justice in June 2017.Zondo is left with two and a half years before his 12-year non-renewable term as a Constitutional Court Justice will come to an end in 2024.
