Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said he will appear before the Oireachtas finance committee to answer questions about Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan's now abandoned secondment to Trinity College.
The committee had invited both Mr Donnelly and Secretary General of the Department of Health Robert Watt to answer questions at a sitting this Wednesday, as part of its examination of the circumstances of the CMO's proposed appointment. He said he told the chair that a"high calibre individual" has been appointed to carry out a short review.
The minister said he told the committee chair he would appear before the committee once that independent report is completed in a few weeks.
