File image. Police tapes from a crime scene.in Taung in North West after 40-year-old Thabiso Mothibedi was allegedly beaten to death.
Police say they were called to Manthe Clinic on Friday evening after a group of men arrived with Mothibedi and requested the nurses to check if he was still alive.According to the police, the deceased was allegedly at Lenganeng Village when the suspects took him to Manthe Village where he was allegedly chained to a generator and assaulted. The suspects are expected to appear before the Taung Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a convicted rapist and murderer has been given life imprisonment by the High Court in Polokwane, Limpopo. 32-year-old Gerald Makua raped and killed two elderly women in Legolaneng and Mogaung villages outside Groblersdal in 2019.Police Spokesperson Mamphaswa Seabi has welcomed the sentence saying it will act as a deterrent to potential criminals.
“This is an indication to everyone that violence against vulnerable elderly citizens will not be tolerated in the province and barbarians like Gerald Khomotso Makua will be permanently ostracised from the society at all costs.”
Those two are not from Taung. They ran away from their places after committing crimes and carry out a heinous deed. Can the magistrate give them double life's behind bars. People of Taung respect human life.
