Foreigners turned net buyers of Japanese stocks in the week ended Aug. 5 as a batch of upbeat corporate earnings reports boosted sentiment.

The Nikkei share average gained 1.35 per cent last week and the Topix index added 0.35 per cent, after both having lost ground in the week before.
