In addition to his position as chairperson, Heydenburk is a partner at Jackson Walker and specializes in real estate transactions. His positions offer him a bird's-eye view of the Fort Worth real estate market as the city continues to grow.
Given that you’re not only the chairperson of the real estate council but a real estate lawyer, you have what I would consider to be a bird’s-eye view of the Fort Worth real estate market. What’s that view looking like today? I’ve noticed a lot of them have moved to North Texas. I think a lot of it is because they travel a lot, and being in the center of the country is a little bit easier if you’ve got an asset in Chicago and California and North Carolina …
I think it’s awareness. I think it’s getting people who are considering locations for corporate relos to … understand Fort Worth, and know all the good things that you and I both know about Fort Worth, so it becomes more of a known quantity as opposed to it being lumped in with DFW. Our challenge as a community generally and as a commercial real estate community is to help make sure it’s done right. Some of that starts with having a shared vision as to what that could be. Because it could be a lot of stuff, right? It could be a wide variety of things, and I don’t think any one of them is right or wrong. It’s about everybody being on the same sheet of music, which I think is happening.
