Reedy Creek Improvement District is the 39-square-mile governing jurisdiction and special taxing district created in 1968 for Walt Disney World Resort's land that acts with the same authority and responsibility as a county government. The district includes two cities — Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista. It also has its own fire department and staff, and contracts law enforcement from local counties.

"The one thing that I can tell the audience is that the conversations of Reedy Creek have always been there, and they're still continuing today,""We'll try to put a bow to that conversation in the near future ... As for the timetable on that, it's still uncertain. But the conversations have continued. There is some progress to be made, but we will definitely, I think, we'll reach a solution sometime soon.

Experts previously have questioned where the state can go from here to resolve issues without making it too complicated while meeting the deadline of the district's dissolution next summer. "There really isn't a good solution to the problem that the Legislature and state leadership created for everyone. The best solution for the citizens, workers and businesses of Florida is to keep the Reedy Creek Improvement District, and its decades of success intact,"
