H2 is a canard by gas companies b/c they'd be replaced by non-geographic independent ones. H2 is a battery, you have to make it from natural gas / water etc. But the losses are too much. Most houses could generate power. When e-bike/bike friendly cities are winning, you've lost
Burn the oil to generate the electricity to make the hydrogen. Simple.
Science fiction. I like Kubrick better.
More nonsense - energy inputs are greater than the outputs, it's a lose-lose proposition. Not to mention it is highly volatile and corrosive.
does AIberta want to fit in?
I have no hope that hydrogen will be the go to energy source. Thats the news speaking for me
Hydrogen is more like a battery or a gas tank than a fuel “source”. It is not naturally occurring in great quantities like oil. It takes energy to make it. Some of that energy could be renewable, like wind or solar, but those are the “sources”, not hydrogen.
Hydrogen is unproven as to be a real alternative. High production costs and high prices.
It will take years to make hydrogen viable by that time Alberta’s oil will be dried up.
The CBC is so deep in propaganda that they do not see how obvious the BS is. They are clueless to the simple question. What energy is being used to separate the H2 from the H2O? Now for a little side bar. How will the environment change with adding huge amounts of water vapor?
Stephenville, Port au Port could be the innovator in this technology but no no that would be progress and jobs. Be sure someone in Atlantic Canada, if not NL, will jump at this and our grandkids will say WTF were u thinking.
Hydrogen
Alberta seems to be the sucker who wants to be the mark in a con game. H₂ is an energy carrier, not a fuel, like a battery. 'Green' H₂ is an energy sink — requires more energy in than you get out.
u cannot make it without massive emission's, its derivative so its not an answer its a bad secondary source
Ok burning gas to make hydrogen is not a cleaner option
