, the founder and chairman of boardroom diversity database theBoardlist, has taken a new job as CEO of Xero, a company that offers a platform for small businesses accounting.

Cassidy has experience working with Australian and New Zealand technology operations, and she is a Canadian national with an understanding of how to build businesses in Commonwealth countries – factors that weighed more heavily in her selection than her location, Thodey said. He said her 25 years of experience leading global companies and working with public and private boards is also invaluable.

"While the Board sees the future of Xero’s growth coming from the northern hemisphere [...] it was also important we hired an executive who had worked with and understood doing business in the southern hemisphere," Thodey said.
