2022 was a year of change and strong foundation building for arts and culture around Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.
Organizations like the Jacksonville Symphony saw record-breaking numbers and ticket sales, museums put on tons of events, and new attractions like Beyond Van Gogh came to the city and brought in even more visitors than anticipated — as the run was extended multiple times. “This past year, many organizations in Jacksonville, including the Cultural Council, were fully funded from state funding at the next great capacity of $150,000,” saidCultural Council of Greater Jacksonville. “And I think it was huge. I think that that was a very deliberate and intentional investment into the Jacksonville city.”
This funding, and more, was just a first step this year to the massive movement that arts and culture took on. Coming back from a time when the entire industry was essentially shut down in the pandemic, it’s still feeling the ripple effects. But it has learned to adapt in big ways.
