Seven foreign nationals have been arrested in Alice in the Eastern Cape for failing to comply with immigration laws.

The arrests were effected during a joint operation between the police, home affairs and the Department of Safety and Liaison.Four shops were also closed for operating without licenses.“We are gravely concerned about it because it opens our country to risks because these people are undocumented, we can’t even trace them.

A resident says, “They sell us expired food and that’s a health hazard. Some are here illegally and they must do the right thing and get the necessary documentation.” The Provincial Police Commissioner, Nomthetheleli Mane, says they are planning a number of similar operations during this festive season.

“We are going to different hotspot areas like your Buffalo City, Nelson Mandela Bay and continue with the operation. The main idea is to ensure that citizens are safe and people that come to the province for holidays and tourists are safe.”

What for? If they're not deporting them or putting them in camps for deportation later, what are they being arrested for? What does this achieve? 15 million & counting, they arrest 7 they'll release same day & we must be impressed?

7 out if 15 000 000 foreign nationals have been arrested…lets clap hands for our police & government.

Thixo wase George Goch

I took out my calculator and I came up with this number (1÷7mil)×100 = 0.0001% job done ... Our police are hard at work

But we have 15 000 000 problems in the country..

You Madafakhas are Gaslighting South Africans. There is 15 million Illegal immigrants and you busy arresting them one by one.

What about King Williams Town👉🏻East London🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Only seven?

This is not newsworthy seven illegal immigrants is a drop in the ocean. There are more than 15 million foreigners in SA and probably 95% are illegal immigrants. So this is just a waste of time and are we now supposed to applaud police and home affairs for doing so little

More of this everyday, please. And better be recording the stats, too.

Those are Julius Malema's people they found the smart way of coming in the country.

Athe_Ceduma These people are everywhere, in every spaza shop, internet cafés, barbershop, street pavements, saloons, tarverns, security guards, farm workers, restaurants you name it, so why try and make an issue out of this

How is this news, when there are 15 Million of them in this country?! South African journalists are an embarrassment, honestly! 🚮

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 What immigration laws?

Leave those poor seven foreign nationals alone they deserve to be here illegally. We don't want to be labelled 'xenophobic'. Let them do as they please...they are in South Africa.

These arrests must happen everyday

I begin to like your reporting. Thought you were going to say Seven men as usual! 😂 😂 😂

You 15 million of these criminals. You come to report not even up to 10? Seriously? Nxxx
