In the period since the rebirth of Cape Town City under John Comitis in 2016, the club is yet to see any players moving directly to the Buccaneers. With the Big Three local teams possessing huge pulling power, City have seen Terrence Mashego, Bradley Ralani, Kermit Erasmus, Lyle Lakay, and Aubrey Ngoma moving to Mamelodi Sundowns while Bhongolwethu Jayiya joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2017.
With the transfer window only opening in the New Year, there hasn’t been any official communication on the transfer of Martin though he has already been reported to have signed. Since the subsequent sale and relocation of Aces to City, the Buccaneers have been active in every window but have not had any player from City despite several players – Abbubaker Mobara, Mpho Makola, Riyaad Norodien, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Tshepo Gumede, and Samora Motloung – leaving in the opposite direction.
