Walking into the JAX2 Amazon distribution center is like walking into the inner workings of a living puzzle, where every person inside holds their own pieces.
The facility on Pecan Park Road is more than 850,000 square feet, housing over 15 miles of conveyer belts and more than 25 million items. Roughly 60,000 bright yellow totes are used throughout the day to transport the products from the warehouse to shipping docs, noticeable from all four floors of the facility.
During a recent visit, food trucks were parked out front, while some employees were taking part in “pajama day,” and others winning scratch-off tickets for prizes and raffles. Some of the most popular items flowing through this particular facility are Amazon products, the company said, including the Echo Dot and Fire TV Sticks. Small business alone had more than $9 billion in sales last year through Amazon, selling more than 290 million items.
