Armed robber targets check cashing business inside supermarket in El Cerrito

A robber armed with a gun targeted a check cashing business inside a supermarket in the El Cerrito neighborhood Wednesday morning, San Diego police said.

The robbery was reported just before 8 a.m. at the Prospera Gonzalez business inside Northgate Market on University Avenue near 54th Street. Police said the thief was armed with a black handgun and made off with an undetermined amount of money.He was described as Black and 5 feet tall, wearing a red, white and green beanie, black face mask, black sweater, black pants and black gloves. Witnesses told police he ran away south on 54th Street.
