A cooling economy might be just the thing general contractors need to correct a tough hiring environment in North Texas and beyond.

Talent is expected to continue to be the most challenging asset for general contractors to acquire in North Texas and beyond., managing director and practice leader at Dallas-based Kaye/Bassman International, in a recent interview.

When you think of the development cycle, it starts with brokers, developers, bankers, and other commercial real estate professionals, making deals to get projects on the docket. Construction is then a trailing indicator of what is happening upstream, they said. That competition further resulted in GCs needing to pay more talent even in a thriving new construction environment.
