When Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan announced a chosen private sector partner for South African Airways in June 2021, he stressed that transformation goals would be a priority. The embattled airline went into business rescue in December 2019. When the Covid-19 lockdowns were imposed and the rescue practitioners could not get more funding from the government at that time, all flights were halted. SAA came out of business rescue in April 2021 and restarted commercial flights on a smaller scale in September 2021.
It is currently operating to some domestic and African destinations on a smaller scale than before business rescue. It has not restarted international flights outside of the African continent yet. Destinations SAA currently flies to are Cape Town, Durban, Accra, Harare, Kinshasa, Lusaka, Lagos, Mauritius, Windhoek and Victoria Falls. _Business What private sector partner in their right mind would get involved there ? That has disaster 2.0 written all over it 😤
_Business Yeah cause that's how you fix things, more government meddling
_Business Won’t be using them.
_Business That is exactly why they fly by themselves. 'Sick Affirmative Airways'.
_Business What SAA?
_Business Let Gordhan transform ahead. Transform in his moer in. 🤮
_Business Here's my vote of confidence. Never flying SAA again.
_Business Idea: why not let people who can do the job, do it🤔
_Business What has the ANC “transformed” that is still viable, world class, competitive… ill wait patiently… oh and please provide evidence… really interested to see
_Business What he actually meant is MYANC looting goals would be a priority. SAA is a shipwreck created by them.
