The provincial government has announced a new 10-year action plan aimed at improving the care cancer patients across the province receive.
The announcement outlined several aspects of the health care system that will be impacted by the funding, namely:A revised pay structures to attract oncologist and cancer-care professionals.Funding for patient travel from rural communities. Since that time, the province points to several milestones that have been reached, including an expansion in the HPV vaccine program, the launch of several new PET/CT scanners across the province, a 10-point youth vaping plan, at home HPV screening and a lung cancer screening program.From 2024 through to 2026, three more $90-million investments are slated to be injected into the provinces healthcare system, as well as a one-time fund of $170-million for the BC Cancer Foundation.
