This is driven by govt housing policies which do little to incentivize other options which offer the same amount of stability & social status. With the high cost of real estate in urban centres, we need these other options & policies to promote inclusion & diversity.
Because we cannot have faith in liberal governments trying to kill the middle class!
Great and necessary article. Canadians addiction to home ownership is long overdue to end and it ends in pain. A house you live in is not a good asset.
Author compares market investing to house ownership but fails to identify that with the market, you still have to pay for a place to live..therefore drastically reducing the amount invested. Comparable homes are as expensive to rent...forever...
