SAN DIEGO – A two-vehicle crash in San Diego’s Chollas View neighborhood left a 63-year-old man dead Sunday.
Just after 1 p.m., San Diego Police and Fire-Rescue departments were called to the 4500 block of Market Street in response to a crash involving a 2018 Lexus RX350 SUV and 1993 Nissan Maxima sedan. According to SDPD officials, the Nissan was heading westbound when it crossed the center line for unknown reasons and slammed head-on into the SUV that was traveling eastbound.
Responding emergency crews tore off the roof of the Nissan to pull the driver out. The 63-year-old driver was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The Lexus had three people inside, and only one of them was taken to the hospital as a precaution, since they were complaining about pain, according to police.SDPD Traffic Division officers are investigating the collision; officials said it was “unknown at this time if DUI is a factor.”This closure is expected to last several hours.
