Inflation rises for first time in months as food price hikes hit 13.6% | Business

The consumer price index rose by 0.7% between January and February, the biggest monthly increase since July 2022, Statistics SA reported on Wednesday.In February, food and non-alcoholic beverages annual inflation hit 13.6% - the highest level since April 2009.

There were large monthly increases in the prices of baby milk formula , baby cereal , fruit juices and fizzy drinks in a can .

_Business The problem in South Africa is there are supply monopolies from producers to supermarkets, Tiger Brands, Pioneer, Unilever, Checkers, Picknpay etc, so look at their net profit returns, then we know why the food is so expensive, not one of them are showing signs of recession?
