Tucked inside the beautiful Snowdonia National Park in the tiny village of Abergwyngregyn is the Aber Falls Whiskey Distillery. It’s one of only four in Wales and the first distillery in North Wales since the early 1900s.
The distillery is just a stone’s throw away from its namesake, the spectacular Aber Falls waterfall. In the other direction is the Morfa Aber Nature Reserve on the coast, with breathtaking views across the Menai Strait to Anglesey. If you’re in North Wales over Easter the distillery is definitely worth a visit, as this Sunday it's hosting an Easter Market with stalls from local traders. Among the vendors lined up this year are Mmmmelts, Lucy Bowman Jewellery, Eryri Candles, Kath Stringer’s bags and scarves made from recycled materials, and Jeffrey Stars, which sells astronomy and planetary science themed artwork. The Easter Market will run from 10am until 4pm on April 9.
Whiskey fans can also take part in tours of the distillery, which run between 12pm and 4pm, from Thursday to Sunday including most bank holidays. The building itself is full of character, and over the years has been a slate works, a margarine factory during the world wars and most recently a drinks wholesaler depot.Aber Falls Distillery, Station Road, Abergwyngregyn, Llanfairfechan, LL33 0LB
