Club CEO Alexis Efstathiou of newly-promoted outfit Cape Town Spurs has hit out at the inflated prices of players as his side attempt to strengthen in preparation for a return to the DStv Premiership.
“I think it’s tough in the transfer market if you are looking for a certain type of a player,” Efstathiou tells“There are some positions that are very scarce. I think that’s because of the shortage of talent in our country, but that’s my opinion. “There’s only a couple of talented players that are willing to take a step backwards and rebuild their careers.“You get a player for R40 000 a month and a player for R1.2 million a month.
“I think there’s a limited number of players, maybe it’s because there are only 16 teams in the league, if it was 20, there would be a lot more.
