At the same time, Anwar announced that RM1mil will be given to set up a formal committee to handle issues faced by p-hailing riders.
The Prime Minister said this in response to a complaint by a p-hailing rider, who said that their fees have been reduced from RM7 per order to less than RM5.“Give me one week and I will call up all p-hailing companies and meet them at the Prime Minister’s Office. I understand that making RM2,000 a month is not enough.“After everything’s settled, buy me a teh tarik,” he said during a question-and-answer session at the “Temu Anwar: Selangor X Belia P-Hailing” dialogue here yesterday.
“I have approved RM1mil to an informal secretariat to establish a committee. I want all initiatives for p-hailing riders to continue and this is important because we do not want to be disorganised.Anwar said the committee could also help riders find better jobs as he understood that most of them would like to change careers at some point.
He added that the committee could also prevent p-hailing riders from being taken advantage of by their platform operators.
