The numbers speak for themselves when it comes to the disparity between men and women working in the wine industry.
In the past decade, the number of those graduating from Viticulture and Oenology degree courses at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga have gone from a 75:25 male-to-female gender ratio in 2012 to 52:48 two years ago."We think the number of those in the industry is closer to about 70 per cent male and 30 per cent female," said Angus Barnes, the Executive Director of the NSW Wine Industry Association.
The charter includes sponsoring women in wine awards and holding sessions on equality and diversity and leadership at wine conferences.
