Tourism industry blasts Home Affairs notice forcing 'swallows', 'sun-chasers' to leave

The tourism sector has criticised a recent notice from the Department of Home Affairs asking foreign tourists to leave the country at the end of February if their visa renewal outcomes weren't received by the 23rd of the month. on 21 December outlining a number of temporary measures that have been introduced as the department battles with a backlog.

While the Department of Tourism said it would continue to engage with Home Affairs about the directive, tourism bodies have warned that it could"kill the economy" and have substantial reputational risks.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
