Spokesperson for the Slave Route Challenge, Fatima Allie, says the route goes past some of Cape Town’s prominent heritage sites.“This is an event that takes you through the heritage sites through Cape Town, into the Bo Kaap, into Sea Point, past Port Wynard, past the slave tree plant, when you come back into Cape Town and into Grand Parade, so it’s an event that has cultural and a heritage background.
About a thousand fitness enthusiasts are expected to take part in the eighth Slave Route Challenge tomorrow which recognises the role of slaves in building the City Bowl area in Cape Town.
