SA has never won the World Cup but finished as runners-up in 1995 losing to Australia in the final in England.Australia and New Zealand have won the tournament since it was incepted in 1963 in England, with Trinidad and Tobago the only other country to have clinched it in 1979. The Proteas will play test series against fellow World Cup participants Wales ahead of the tournament to prepare for the tournament.
They have also played against top three nations in the world Australia, New Zealand and England in the Quad series early this year. Molokwane says they are fortunate to have high-profile warm-up matches.There will be 10 provincial teams including two from Gauteng, as well as the male team, Spar Smileys and Zimbabwe national team.
