Nautilus Aviation has confirmed one of its staff was flying the helicopter that crashed into a Cairns hotel early on Monday.
Blake Wilson, who worked as part of Nautilus Aviation’s ground crew, died in the helicopter crash on Monday morning. While Nautilus and police did not name the individual, he was identified in multiple media reports as Blake Wilson, who had only lived in Australia for four months. “We can confirm this event did occur and was a privately organised send-off for the individual involved in Monday morning’s incident, who was recently promoted to a ground crew position at another one of our bases. This was not a work event and was co-ordinated by friends.”The helicopter’s wreckage was removed from the hotel late on Monday.
