It's farewell for now but keep an eye out for future plans

A property that was once a well-known restaurant and more recently a vintage shop has gone on the market. At Happy Sunday, every nook and cranny was filled with colour, joy and nostalgia.

The shop, on the corner of Derby Road and Wollaton Street, closed at the end of July, one year on from Bryony Selway and business partner Mihnea Georgescu welcoming customers through the doors. The two floors marked an expansion for the shop, which previously operated out of Hopkinson in Station Street. In April the shop was named one of the top 50 independent boutiques in the UK in the Telegraph Magazine.

In a farewell message, seamstress and avid collector, Bryony, said she was sad to close the "colourful Derby Road store" which sold retro fashions, jewellery, furniture and quirky knick-knacks. She said: "It’s the end of an era, but an era we will remember fondly despite the challenges that the last year has thrown at us. This space allowed our dream to be realised, allowed the brand to grow and attracted a community of incredible people - both staff and customers alike.

The Grade II listed bow-fronted building, built in 1877 with a mixture of architectural styles, was once a chemist and later became much-loved restaurant Ben Bowers. When it closed, it turned into another restaurant 1877. The property is back up to let with an annual rent of £26,500 per year. Property agents FHP said it would suit retail, a cafe or restaurant.
