The Dow hit a fresh intraday record on Thursday while the other major averages also rose as investors assessed Nvidia's earnings and data showing the US economy grew more than expected. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained more than 350 points to hit a fresh record. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite rose more than 1%, while the S&P 500 moved up roughly 0.5% on the heels of losses for all three gauges.
Elsewhere in earnings, Salesforce shares popped after a big earnings beat by the software maker. Best Buy shares soared 17% after the retailer posted better-than expected results as its sales stabilize. Meanwhile, Dollar General shares tanked 25% after the retail chain cut its full year outlook and blamed softer sales in the second quarter on "financially constrained" customers.
