Trade, Industry and Competition Deputy Minister, Zuko Godlimpi interviewed by SABC News reporter, Katlego Legodi at the backdrop of the 18th Annual Competition Law, Economic Policy Conference in Johannesburg on September 4, 2024.The Competition Commission and Tribunal is hosting the 18th Annual Competition Law Conference in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Speaking at the event, Godlimpi says while there is a need to reflect on the commission’s role, gaps in competition laws must also be looked at. He says, “There’s a lot of important work that the competition commission and the competition tribunal have achieved over the past 25 years. They have intervened in instances of price-fixing, of collusions in the market. There was the bread price-fixing saga. There was the construction price-fixing with the World Cup stadia and a whole range of issues that happened in the past 25 years.
